Catherine Rose Smith is a songwriter and performer, dedicated to excellence in each expression of her craft. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Smith now resides in Los Angeles, where she is a senior in USC Thorntons Popular Music Program. In addition to fronting a five piece band playing her original music, Smith writes daily to continue adding to her diverse catalog of work, ranging from radio-friendly pop to experimental space music.
Smiths composition "Learn From You" was recently selected as the winner of a competition sponsored by the Los Angeles Times and USC which asked songwriters to compose a song embodying the spirit of the LA Times Festival of Books. She and her band recorded a professional track and music video, both of which premiered on the Festival of Books website. Ms. Smith and her band also performed as part of the opening ceremony.
She released her debut EP Morning in January of 2013. Of the album, Jack Keller of IndieU writes: the EP fantastically excites as it leaves the listener wanting more. With the combination of her mesmeric voice and organic musical accompaniment, her foray into the industry sets the tone of the artist she is and wishes to be.
