Eric Tingstad

Say the names Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel to any aficionado of instrumental music and, chances are, you'll elicit a sigh of sheer pleasure. The duo has recorded together professionally since the mid-1980s. Their 2003 album Acoustic Garden won the pair a Grammy Award in the New Age category and garnered lavish critical praise. One reviewer called the collaboration "a melodic bouquet."

Eric's pre-Tingstad and Rumbel days in Seattle found him playing the local bar scene. He also performed with the band Pegasus and wrote progressive rock tunes.

"All over the map," is how Eric characterizes his musical influences, which range from the Beatles, Yes, Led Zeppelin and Peter Gabriel to Spanish, Celtic and other world music genres. And speaking of influences, it was Eric's two daughters who introduced him to Luna Guitars. "I thought that the intentional line of guitars for women was a great idea," he says of Luna's initial design vision. "But of course they are guitars that anyone can play. Right now, I am intrigued with recording them and exploring their unique sound."

Currently, Eric plays the Luna Henna acoustic/electric guitar. "The price of guitars has gone through the roof," he observes, noting that Luna's affordable pricing appeals to him. "The instruments also have a unique feel to them -- light, yet solid. Kinda like a fine French Burgundy." No surprise that an appreciation of wines is among Eric's downtime interests, along with art and garden design.

Although Eric released "Southwest" last year, a solo album which he describes as "ambient Americana with a Western desert vibe," the Tingstad and Rumbel duo is hard at work on a new album, which will be released in mid-2008."I have some material that is more in the country vein that may see the light of day soon," he also reveals.

"We really don't take large blocks of time off from performing," he explains. Tour dates and the latest info, along with samples of the duo's outstanding and unique sound, can be found online at www.tingstadrumbel.com.

Luna is pleased to call Eric Tingstad a Luna Artist.
