Luna Guitars Expands Nashville Presence: Live on WSM 650am

Luna Guitars Talks Acoustic Guitars, Ukuleles, St. Jude and Collaboration with the Warren Brothers Live on 650 AM WSM, Nashville Today

Tampa, FL — April 21, 2018 On Wednesday, April 10th, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Central Time the light on the On-Air sign illuminated Nashville Today host Devon O’Day welcomed Luna Artist Jessica Rose and Adam Gomes, Director of Marketing & Artist Relations at Luna Guitars, back to WSM and behind the mic. Topics of discussion included Luna’s expanded Nashville presence, a recent video shoot with legendary songwriters The Warren Brothers, iHeartMedia’s Charity event for St. Jude, and the power of brand ambassadors. Read the overview of the segment below.

On April 9th, Luna stepped into the world of award-winning and pro-songwriting duo most commonly known as The Warren Brothers, to record guitar demonstration videos at Big Loud. The guitars featured are  from the Artist Series, which includes the Vintage Series and the all-solid wood Recorder Series. Each series will be added to the Luna website on their corresponding product page. Brad Warren, known for his lead-guitar playing skills, demonstrated the playability of the Recorder Series, while Brett Warren enjoyed the smooth strumming and rustic feel of the Vintage Series.

Demonstration videos with The Warren Brothers are expected to be released early Summer 2018. More information coming soon.

“It’s no surprise two highly-talented people like The Warren Brothers recently won a CMA Triple Play Award for writing 3 hit singles in a year – they are great guys and deserve it,” said Gomes to host Devon O’Day, who is also a friend of The Warren Brothers. “We are thankful they were generous to make time to shoot demo videos for Luna and even more thankful they approve of the Vintage & Recorder Series’ guitars.”

On Sunday, April 8th Luna Guitars partnered with The Big 98 to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the annual Songs & Stories at Wildhorse Saloon. The annual event hosted by iHeartMedia featured performances from prominent songwriters such as Chris Destefano, JT Harding, Lauren Alaina, as well as Luna special guests Jessica Rose and Payton Taylor. Luna Guitars donated acoustic guitars to be autographed and auctioned for charity with all proceeds donated to St. Jude.

“Songs & Stories was an intricate storytelling evening and we hope the guitar donations help make a big monetary impact for St Jude’s,” said Gomes, speaking with Devon O’Day on air. “The event was also an opportunity for aspiring musicians in attendance to test drive a new guitar or ukulele from a brand making waves in the Nashville scene.”

Transitioning the discussion from Artists and Songwriters to the modern technological world, O’Day asked Luna Artist Jessica Rose, “What role does social media play when it comes to Artist development and reach?” Rose replied, “It is so cool to be able to communicate with my fans on a daily basis! I love hearing their feedback and bringing them behind the scenes on projects that people wouldn’t necessarily be able to see!”

Gomes added, “Jessica is correct and does a great job. Artists should continuously stay-on-top of social media accounts that keep the target audience dialed-in and keeps their message fresh for fans. From a manufacturer stand-point, you can find some of the best brand ambassadors such as Luna Artist Chase Stephen, who will be instrumental in promoting brand awareness across social media.”

While wrapping up their time on the air, Devon O’Day asked  Adam Gomes questions about niche-specific instruments:

Topics discussed included:

  • Children’s guitars
  • 6-String Ukulele
  • Most Popular Ukulele Body Shape
  • Cajon

“Creative innovation begins with choosing the right instrument for you.”

The Journey to Accomplishment by Sarah Lightman

Burbank was the first place I ever street performed with my first acoustic electric guitar: my Fauna Dolphin. Its beauty and sound attracted eyes and ears as I performed in the downtown shopping center. My name is Sarah Lightman and I’m going to tell you a story about how powerful working together can be and my journey to getting my music video featured on Universal CityWalk’s in LA!

One day during the Summer of 2017, I was street performing in downtown Burbank in Los Angeles, California in front of a restaurant being built. At the time I was working multiple jobs on top of street performing: dog walking, a café job, and a dog daycare. That day I met some friends who invited me to play at the NAMM Show 2018 – which goes to show you one day of street performing can change your career!

September 2017: Street Performing

My NAMM Show invite gave me some momentum so, I reapplied to audition for Universal CityWalk Street Performer Program. I applied a couple of months before, and I decided to try again. Right around this time I quit some of my many jobs to devote more time into music. I was so scared to take this step! The Sunday after I reapplied, I was street performing and a man with glasses walked over to listen. He had so much intention and excitement in his steps. My gut told me this guy must be important, or he’s a really big fan! His presence inspired me to sing my two best songs. After I sang, he came over and told me he was part of Universal Entertainment and that he read over my cover letter.

January 2018: The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA

I walked into the Anaheim Convention Center with butterflies in my stomach and with great excitement. A few months before heading to the NAMM Show, I was accepted to be part of the Universal CityWalk Street Performer experience! At the time, I had raised roughly 30% of the funds needed for my music video that would be played at CityWalk, LA and there were only 2 weeks left until the day of the shoot. Walking into the show, it was my first time working with Audio Gear Group and M&K Sound – I knew what my mission was walking into NAMM; professionally represent my brand, build relationships, and speak to Luna Guitars.

Like practicing and honing your craft you have to put the work in; it took me a few times to walk into the Luna booth in hopes to collaborate. Sometimes that means submitting over and over while you keep improving the way you finesse as an artist. I walked in to booth 207AB and this year Luna brought a couple of their Artists with them. The first I met was Carly Jo Jackson – She was full of so much fire and much taller than myself. That’s where I first met Adam Gomes, Director of Marketing & Artist Relations at Luna and my team talked over what we wanted to do in collaboration with Luna. I told him why I wanted to represent the brand and the Luna Tribe at heart. When I left the Luna room to go back to the Audio Gear booth to play another set with Carly Jo and one of the acoustic guitars that Adam let us borrow; the Henna Oasis acoustic electric. When I tried it out it sounded so nice and it attracted so many eyes and ears just like my Fauna Dolphin! I thought to myself I HAVE to get myself one of these.

February 2018: Trouble Arises

A week after NAMM, it was just a few days before the shoot of the music video and one of the sponsors did not deliver the funds they guaranteed. Their donation was going to cover the exact remaining funds needed for the project. My management team (Brianna Fish and Daniela Simmen) did their best to support and brainstorming fundraising ideas. It was a truly trying and sad moment. I did not want to let Luna, supporters, or my cast and crew down. There were only two days left to make some extra money so I didn’t break my bank account. Right until the night before the shoot, I hit the streets performing as much as I could while running to the grocery store and planning all of the last-minute needs for the shoot with management. I was going non-stop and realized I still needed to shower, eat dinner, meet with the director, and check the mail. The mail sounded the most exciting so I went for that first. When I went inside the house, there were 5 or 6 giant boxes sent from Luna waiting for me in the living room. I opened them up and it felt like my birthday. Luna let me feature not only the Henna, but Adam from Luna also let the band use all Luna guitar instruments in the music video! In that moment, that’s when I knew that I would be more than just okay because I had the support from the Luna Tribe and the great folks at Luna Guitars.

April 2, 2018: Lights, Camera, Action on City Walk!

Finally, the day arrived, my music video hit YouTube and social media! I sent it to everyone: friends, family, gigs I booked, gig I never heard back from, open mics, Ken Callait. You name it and I sent it! One day I sent emails from 1PM-3:30AM to help it get the word out. Universal Entertainment notified me that the video was up and ready to be viewed at CityWalk 4 times a day, every day. I grabbed as many involved as I could and we headed out to see it on their big screen. To my surprise the video played after the following artists: Justin Timberlake and Christ Stapleton, Sean Mendes, and Diplo. Some of these artists are ones that I grew up watching and listening it is such an honor and so surreal to share the screen with my idols.

As of Saturday, April 21st, the video hit 7,600+ views. Last week it was only at 400! The folks at Luna Guitars and I were so excited about this whole journey that we worked together to share this story with you. Everyone is capable of achieving greatness, as long as we keep fighting for it, together.

Songwriting & the Inspiration Within

Whether it be through yoga, a long walk, a song on the radio or a simple conversation, We all find inspiration at some point. Songwriting is born of this simple and undeniable truth that every one of us all hit the occasional “Writers Block”. The amount of frustration that follows from this symptom can sometimes be unbearable.

Over the last few years of gigs and traveling I’ve had very rare opportunities, to sit down and speak with some successful Singers. I was able to pick up one tip that’s helped me make the most out of my writing and I’m hear today to share it with you….TAKE YOUR TIME. Rushing a song that ultimately comes from your heart is like playing a guitar without strings. The universe has a way of revealing its message to us all and there’s no way we can hear it if we are overwhelmed. How can we possibly reach ears and hearts with a song we didn’t take the time to genuinely appreciate?

There are some days that I’ll find myself in total seclusion, finding meditation and simply strumming my Luna Guitar with a hot cup of coffee and the next verse suddenly reveals itself. If you can’t find the right words, let the right words find you. MUSIC my fellow tribe members deserves your contribution to the world. Give it your best by loving and feeling every note you create.

Luna Annual Memo 2017-2018

Time has shown that music serves a greater purpose to society than just bringing happiness to both musicians and listeners. From artists to organizations big and small, last year we saw people come together to attend benefit concerts and donate to various causes after, especially during some of the worst natural disasters the world has seen.

Many were left without shelter and supplies after several unfortunate natural disasters struck Texas, Florida, California, and Puerto Rico. During the aftermath we saw the world come together for grievance via social media, console one another and lift each other up through various acts of kindness.

In October 2017, Luna spearheaded benefit concert alongside the Sergeant Shredder Band to assist those that fell victim to natural disasters. All proceeds went to the American Red Cross. However, charity work for Luna did not stop there.

During the summer of 2017 Luna Guitars partnered with iHeartMedia for Guitar-B-Que in Nashville and donated several guitars that were signed by artists and raffled off, with all proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Similarly, in November of 2017 we partnered with Beasley Broadcast Group for Guitar Pull and donated guitars that were also signed and raffled off with proceeds going to a variety of charities including St Jude’s, Shriner’s Hospital and Spark the Way.

Just recently Luna partnered with Musician’s On Call to help raise money for the organization to continue bringing live music to folks that are bedridden in hospitals. And for the past few years, Luna has donated ukuleles to Habilitat, a non-profit in Hawaii that helps victims of substance abuse, which were raffled at an annual event. Those are just a few charities.

As 2018 begins, we wish nothing more than peace and prosperity in the world but we know there will always be folks in need of help. The Luna Tribe embodies the definition of community and the concept of people helping people. As an instrument manufacturer, we are going to do what we can to help make people be the best they can be. Follow Luna on the journey through 2018 as we already have a few charity-partnerships lined up and more to come!

Yours truly,

Adam Gomes

Areg & Friends: Guitar Travelers take their talents to Armenia & Georgia

Areg & Friends take their Luna Instruments to Armenia & Georgia

By Anna Manvelyan
November 2017

Music has always been a huge part of all of us: we listen to music while doing our studies, while editing photos, while eating and chatting. It brightens up our days and we have a huge amount of enjoyment just thinking about creating or listening to music. In August 2017, we went on a road trip across Armenia and Georgia.

Areg & Friends take their Luna Instruments to Armenia & Georgia

This trip brought together four people and four Luna instruments, and we had the opportunity and time to play and sing our favorite songs. Due to the hustle and bustle of our regular city lives, we don’t usually have that much time to savor this feeling of our fingers strumming the strings and the sense of pride we get when we finish a song and listen to the sound of the last notes fading.

Areg & Friends take their Luna Instruments to Armenia & Georgia

We took our Ukuleles and Guitars by Luna everywhere we went: mountains, lakes, busy streets and empty alleys. Our Luna instruments were the perfect addition to each new scene and filled us with coziness and joy. At that point, our instruments were more than a tool, but rather a definition of who we present ourselves as, something that reminded us of home and something we could hold on to.

Areg & Friends take their Luna Instruments to Armenia & Georgia

The first thing I thought of as I started writing this is how we tried recording something for the first time during our trip. We were on a high hill and all we had were a guitar and our voices. We placed the recorders, set up the cameras and started to sing. And even though there were some challenges with recording (strong wind, an itchy nose or a huge mosquito flying around your head can definitely spoil the shot), despite all of that, we had the best time. The sunset was enormously beautiful, the soft sound of our favorite guitar playing and birds singing all came together to create the most incredible memories.

Rennie, Anna, Irina - Little Kids (Kings of Convenience cover)

They say people remember their experiences in feelings, and the feeling I can recall looking back at that moment was happiness.

With love,

Your Instrument is an Extension of Yourself

Wolf Critton

I think I speak for most songwriters when I say our instruments are an extension of ourselves. I never truly understood the meaning of this until I saw the “Vista Wolf”; to me there is nothing more important and precious on stage than having a guitar that speaks for itself. When I was in Iraq I was very closed off and kept to myself. There were nights when I would stand in the desert outside my tent and look at the moon thinking of my family. Knowing no matter how far away I was, we were all looking at the same moon. It was my way of staying connected to the people I love. So you can imagine the flow of emotions that came over me when I saw Luna Guitars “Vista Series”.

“What’s the story behind that Guitar?” I hear this question a lot when I am performing at shows. This gives me the opportunity to share more than my music. What makes us stand out is our testimony in life and how we express ourselves. In my own personal opinion, only Luna has ever created a guitar that spoke to me and brought inspiration just by looking at it. So when you shop for your next Guitar, consider the endless joy of standing on stage with something that has meaning and truly shows an EXTENTION of yourself.
