April, 2013 - What follows is a compilation from various sources approved by Zach's family.
Zach Sobiech, 17-year-old teen from Stillwater, Minnesota, doesn't go far without his guitar in tow.
Facing months to live, Zach is turning to music - writing and performing songs as a way to say goodbye to his friends and family.
Writing goodbye letters aren't Zach's style, so he puts his heart into song lyrics.
Zach has been battling osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, since he was diagnosed at age 14. As the disease spreads, doctors have no more effective treatment options to offer him a cure. Zach is told that he likely has months to one year to live.
In the face of this earth shattering news, his response is to embrace every day with hope and joy. Zach surrounds himself with family and friends. He still goes to his senior year classes, although he told his teachers that he will skip the homework.
He writes songs for the ones he loves. "Clouds" and the accompanying music video on YouTube garnered worldwide attention after his story appeared on CNN and in newspapers, television and websites around the globe. The YouTube video topped 2 million views and continues to climb. Zach's music has touched the hearts of anyone who listens. Luna was honored when Zach used a Luna guitar on one of his latest videos, "Sandcastles".
Dylan adapted the expression: "if you aren't busy living, you're busy dying." Despite Zach's prognosis, this courageous, creative young man has been busy living.
We're proud to call Zach Sobiech a member of our Luna Tribe.
